There is much in the world that makes one want to throw up. Dirty wars, dirty spirits, toxic chemicals, toxic money, poisoned water, polluted air, decimated rain forests, the accumulation of pain, injustice… All the toxicity out there also finds its way inside. We suggest, therefore, that it is good practice to vomit. Now is the time to vomit. We must vomit together. We must vomit not as a hidden disorder or a form of self-harm, but rather as a collective ritual. To vomit is to purge, to cleanse, to reach down to an empty state on the other side of desire, in the negation of consumption and ingestion and possession. In this spirit of house cleaning or more broadly speaking of environmental cleaning, we offer you the possibility to participate to Purga.

Purga is a deep cleanse practice, a spiritual, political, environmental purge. In the initiation to ayahuasca ceremonies in the Peruvian Amazon, Shipibo shamans provide a plant-based medicinal drink to provoke purging, to cleanse the entire physical system before embarking on the long journey into the night of the DMT.

Dominga Valles Vargas is a Shipibo curandera in the Peruvian Amazon, purveyor of the knowledge and the plant medicine. The Shipibo Conibo Center is a broad experiment in art, culture, politics and the afterlife. Arabanca nahuan rao also known as sharamasho (ocimum americanum L.) is a plant used in floral baths and purgative rituals. It’s distinguished for its sweet aromatic smell and does not cause side-effects.

Muchas cosas del mundo actual dan ganas de vomitar. Las guerras sucias, los espíritus sucios, las sustancias químicas, el dinero tóxico, el agua envenenada, el aire contaminado, las selvas tropicales diezmadas, la acumulación de dolor, la injusticia... La toxicidad que hay ahí afuera termina penetrando en el interior. Nosotros sugerimos, entonces, la práctica de vomitar. Ahora es el momento de vomitar. Debemos vomitar juntos. No hay que tratar el acto de vomitar como un trastorno oculto o una forma de autolesión, sino como un ritual colectivo. Vomitar es limpiarse, es alcanzar un estado de vacío al otro lado del deseo, en la negación del consumo, la ingestión y la posesión. Con este espíritu le ofrecemos la posibilidad de participar en la Purga. El vomitivo es una práctica de limpieza profunda, espiritual, política y medio ambiental. En la iniciación a las ceremonias de ayahuasca en la amazonía peruana, los chamanes shipibos proveen una bebida a base de plantas medicinales para limpiar todo el sistema físico antes de emprender el largo viaje hacia la noche de la DMT.
